On May 27, the world’s eyes (well, at least the World of Tanks community’s eyes) will be set upon Moscow for the 2017 World of Tanks Wargaming League grand finals. Over the course of three days, the greatest World of Tanks players in the world will battle it out for a grand prize of $300,000.
Whilst the main grand finals elimination matches take place on May 27 and 28, the group stages – consisting of the twelve best World of Tanks eSports teams in the Wargaming League – take place on May 23 and 24. These involve four groups of three teams, and each team will contest in a series of heated matches within their groups. Only the top two teams from each group will proceed to the grand finals weekend on the 27th, meaning that after this first stage, we will say goodbye to four of the twelve teams.
Then, the eight remaining teams will proceed to the grand finals, consisting of elimination matches to determine the top four teams. Then the top two teams. And then finally, on the May 28 live from the VTB Ice Palace in Moscow, the top two teams will battle it out for the prize pool. Will the reigning champions Na’Vi continue to reign supreme at the top of the World of Tanks eSports ladder? Or will a new challenger dethrone them? We’ll just have to wait and see.
